The European elm is a tall plant, capable of reaching 40 metres in height and a trunk diameter of up to 1.5 metres. It growths in the plains and foothill areas and, in nature, can be found, spontaneous and sporadic, in forest formations. The elm wood is very decorative and of great prestige, as used in fairly large sizes. On average, heavy and hard, it is very resistant to pressure but less to traction, yet sufficiently elastic.
